Volleyball: Saints drop match to red hot Wildcat team

Ellensburg, WA (September 14) – Saint Martin’s fell
to the Central Washington Wildcats in three Thursday night at Nicholson
Pavilion. The Wildcats topped the Saints 18-30, 21-30, and 16-30 on
their way to their tenth straight victory.
Saint Martin’s kept it close in the first two games.
In game one they trailed by just four points until Central scored 11 of
the final 14 points for the win. The Saints were only down by two
halfway through the second before the Wildcats surged ahead on a streak
of five straight serves giving Central a seven point lead that they
never surrendered.
Central took a commanding 26-9 lead in the third
game. The Saints battled back scoring seven of the final eleven points
but it wasn’t enough to stop the Wildcats as they went on to win 30-16.
Freshman Shealun Campisi led the Saints with 13
kills and 10 digs. Holly Nilson and Elise Dike added six and five kills
respectively. Dike also had 9 digs.
The Saints are back in action Saturday September
15th as they travel to Seattle to take on Seattle University.
