Volleyball: Saints defeated by Puget Sound

Tacoma, WA – The University of Puget Sound Loggers
put up 53 kills and 71 digs on their way to a 3-0 victory over Saint
Martin’s University Thursday night at Memorial Fieldhouse in Tacoma. The
Saints were defeated 30-23, 30-23, and 30-21.
The Saints took the early lead in game one and
Shealun Campisi put up five of her 14 kills for the night. The Loggers
were able to make a comeback and tie it up 12-12. They then took the
lead which they never relinquished, going on to win 30-23.
Game two saw the Saints off to a good start, up
10-6. After a UPS called timeout the Loggers scoring eight in row to
forge ahead and eventually pull out the win 30-23.
The Loggers surged ahead in game three with a 22-12
lead. The Saints tried to recover but it wasn’t enough to pull out a
win.
Campisi and Elise Dike both provided 13 digs for the
Saints. Dike also added 13 kills. Andrea Tarbet contributed 17 digs on
the night while Lisa Hall tallied 32 set assists.
Saint Martin’s begins conference play on September
9th when they take on Western Oregon University in Monmouth, OR.
