Volleyball: Saints fall to No. 18 ranked SPU
and NNU Crusaders

The Saint Martin’s volleyball team continues to push
through a tough season, completing another week of intense conference
competition. The Saints (0-14, 0-8 GNAC) opened the week Thursday,
October 6th, with No.18th ranked Seattle Pacific University (12-5, 6-2
GNAC). The Falcons proved why they remain in the top 20, posting a three
game sweep with scores of 30-12, 30-10, 30-11 at Brougham Pavilion.
Seattle Pacific held Saint Martin's to GNAC record single-match lows in
kills (12) and hitting percentage (minus .115) in handing the Saints
their 17th consecutive loss dating back to their final three matches of
the 2004 season. Keana Morrisey (Jr., University Place, WA) led the
Saints with four kills, while Andrea Tarbet (Fr., Rochester, WA) added
three kills and eight digs.
At the Johnson Sports Center in Nampa, ID on
Saturday, October 8th, the Saints met another tough team in Northwest
Nazarene University (6-11, 4-5 GNAC). The Saints were edged by the
Crusaders in three games with scores of 24-30, 18-30, 23-30. The
Crusaders out hit the Saints .287 to .041. The Saints were led by
Morrisey who paced all players with a match high 14 kills, while
Bautista added nine and Tarbet five. Lisa Hall (Jr., Olympia WA) added
26 assists, and Bautista led the defensive effort with 10 digs.
