Track: Eleven Saints earn academic honors

Spokane, WA – A total of 108 student athletes,
including four men and seven women from Saint Martin’s, have been named
to the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Track and Field Academic
all-star team.
Katelynn Blume, a senior from Lacey, WA, was one of
three on the women’s side have a perfect 4.00 grade point average. She
is a biology major who was one of sixteen to be selected to the team for
the third time.
Also named to the team for the third time were Caleb
Timmer and Robbie Wilbur. Timmer, a senior from Tacoma, WA, was one of
the top scholars on the men’s side with a 3.88 GPA as an engineering
major. Wilbur, who is a senior from Spanaway, WA majoring in Math,
posted a 3.75 grade point average.
Four of the thirty-six selected for the second time
were from Saint Martin’s including Jessie Dunnam, Chelsi Claussen,
Danika Washington and Steven LaLonde. Dunnam, a junior from Kelso, WA,
is an education major maintaining a 3.54 GPA. Claussen is a junior from
Shelton, WA who has a 3.33 grade point average as a biology major.
Washington, a senior from Lacey, WA, is maintaining a 3.74 while
LaLonde, a junior from Centralia, WA, is a business major with a 3.30
GPA.
Rounding out the academic all-stars for the Saints
are Kaleigh Bishop, Taylor Shipman, Jessica Pendon, and Asiki Ayume.
Bishop is an education major from Stanwood, WA and has a 3.94 GPA.
Shipman, who is currently undecided on her major, has a 3.33 GPA.
Pendon, a sophomore from Spanaway, WA, posts a 3.21 as an education
major. A senior from Federal Way, WA, Ayume is maintaining a 3.29 grade
point average as an engineering major.
To be eligible for the academic team, student
athletes must have a minimum grade point average of 3.20 and be in at
least their second year of competition at their university. They must
also qualify to compete in either the GNAC Indoor or Outdoor track and
field championship meet.
All seven of the Saints’ women athletes eligible
were selected to the team.
