Track: Carlson breaks school record, again

Tacoma, WA – Krinda Carlson smashed the school
record she set earlier this year in the women’s 1500m at the UPS
Shotwell Invitational Saturday. Carlson broke away from the rest of the
field with 120m to go to win the race with a time of 4:49.89, almost
seven seconds faster then previous time of 4:56.63.
Others setting PRs at the meet were Josh Gatbunton
in the men’s 1500 with a time of 4:05.33 and Brian Gerry in the 200m at
23.37, both conference provisional qualifying times. Bill Richardson and
Kevin Tober also set new PRs. Richardson threw the javelin 145’08” and
Tober finished the 800m in 2:15.20.
Chelsi Claussen, Jessica Pendon, Amy Layton, Caleb
Timmer and Asiki Ayume all ran season’s best and earned provisional
conference qualifying marks. Claussen ran the 100 hurdles in 16.11 while
Pendon finished the 400m in 1:01.14 and Layton the 800m in 2:26.41.
Timmer and Ayume both competed in the 800m finishing with times of
1:57.07 and 1:58.08 respectively.
Six other Saints posted season’s bests at the meet.
Jennifer Grover ran the women’s 800m in 2:27.02 while Brian Daltoso
finished the 100m in 12.13 and Brian Gerry ran the 400m in 52 flat. Tris
Obluck competed in the 1500m and posted a 4:30.94 while Tristan Beach
ran the 5000m in 15:51.53. Aaron Edwards equaled his season’s best in
the 100m with a time of 11.65.

6' 4.75"; Devin Sturgeon: Shot: 34"; Aaron Edwards: Long Jump: 20' 3".
Women's 4 x 400m: Claussen, Pendon, Carlson, and Grover: 4:16.22, and
Men's 4 x 400m: Gerry (52.94 split), Wilbur (53.64 split-PR), Timmer
(51.63), and Ayume (50.77): 3:28.98.
The Saints’ next meet is April 12-14 at the Mt. Sac
Relays in Walnut, CA.
