Track: Saints open indoor season at UW

Seattle, WA (January 13) – Saint Martin’s opened
their 2007 Indoor Track season this weekend at the University of
Washington Indoor Preview at the Dempsey Center.
Aaron Edwards set a new school record in the high
jump at 5’11 ¼”. He also placed 8th in the long jump with a distance of
20’1 ½”.
The women’s team finished seventh in the distance
medley. Jessica Pendon, Krinda Carlson, Jessie Dunnam, and Taylor
Shipman combined for a time of 13:33.48. Dunnam set a PR for the mile in
the race with a time of 5:35.
The men had two teams in the distance medley. Niwar
Nasim, Caleb Timmer, Josh Gatbunton and Robbie Wilbur placed 5th with a
time of 11:11.15. Brian Gerry, Steven LaLonde, Asiki Ayume, and Tristan
Beach posted a time of 11:56.84 to finish 8th.
Gerry also competed in the 300m. He placed 12th and
set a new school record with a time of 37.94. In the 800m Caleb Timmer
finished with a time of 2:00.09 to place 20th. John Riak finished 9th in
the 3000m at 8:41.79.
“We had a small team out, but they showed some good
stuff,” said head coach Julie Sullivan. “Everybody that competed ran
well. It was a good solid performance and a good start by everybody.”
The Saints compete next at the University of
Washington Invite on January 26th.
