Track and Field: Ten named to GNAC All-Academic team

Lacey, WA --- A total of ten student-athletes, five
men and five women, have been named to the 2006 Great Northwest Athletic
Conference Track and Field Academic All-Conference Team, released today
by the conference office.
Saint Martin’s Katelynn Blume (Jr., Lacey, WA), a
Chemistry/Biology major, was one of five academic all-stars to head up
the team with a perfect 4.00 grade point average.
Also on the women’s side are Janelle Probst (So.,
Spokane, WA), two-time repeater Nicole Beatty (Sr., Port Angeles, WA),
Jessie Dunnam (So., Kelso, WA) and Chelsi Claussen (So., Shelton, WA).
Probst is a Physical Education major with a 3.80
GPA, Beatty is a Special Education major with a GPA of 3.70, Dunnam
maintains a 3.65 GPA and Claussen owns a 3.47 GPA as a Biology major.
SMU’s Andy Prentice (Sr., Nine Mile Falls, WA) was
one of four athletes to be named to the team for the fourth time.
Prentice, a Business major, holds a 3.47 GPA.
Also representing the men are Caleb Timmer (So.,
Tacoma, WA), Robbie Wilbur (Jr., Spanaway, WA), Josh Timmer (So.,
Tacoma, WA) and Steve LaLonde (So., Centralia, WA).
Caleb Timmer maintains a 3.87 GPA as a Civil
Engineering major, Wilbur is a Math/Biology major with a 3.72 GPA, Josh
Timmer is a Mechanical Engineering major with a 3.55 GPA and LaLonde
owns a 3.22 GPA.
To be eligible for the academic team,
student-athletes must have a minimum grade point average of 3.20 and be
in at least their second year of competition at their institution. They
must also qualify to compete in either the GNAC Indoor or GNAC Outdoor
Track and Field championship meet.
