Track & Field: Saints get four new qualifiers in dual meet win

Four Saint Martin's athletes posted first-time provisional qualifying marks for next week's Great Northwest Athletic Conference track-and-field meet in a dual with Evergreen State Tuesday.

The Saints won the men's meet 88-16 and posted an 84-6 win in the women's dual. Qualifiers included Chelsi Claussen (So., Shelton, WA) in the women's 100 hurdles (15.4), Jessica Pendon (Fr., Spanaway, WA) in the 400 (62.0), Caleb Timmer (So., Tacoma, WA) in the men's 400 (51.0) and John Riak (Fr., Lacey, WA) in the 10,000 (33:15.6).

Caleb Timmer won three events in the men's dual, sweeping the 200 (23.8), 400 and triple jump (40-9), while twin brother Josh Timmer (So., Tacoma, WA) won the shot (36-3 1/4) and long jump (18-9 1/2).

Claussen won six events in the women's dual, including the 100 (13.12), 200 (27.32), 400 (58.0), 100 hurdles, javelin and long jump. Her 400 time was a two-second improvement on her previous GNAC qualifying mark.
