Indoor Track & Field: Saints open indoor season at Univ. of Washington Open

The Saints opened the 2006 indoor season at the University of Washington Indoor Track and Field Open at Dempsey Center this week-end.

On Saturday, Andy Prentice (Sr., Spokane, WA) finished eighth in the men’s mile in a provisional national qualifying time of 4:10.85, the second fastest time in GNAC history. On Sunday, Prentice placed second in the 800 meters in a time of 1:54.60, just 7/10s of a second off the provisional national qualifying mark. Prentice was selected as the GNAC male Athlete of the Week for his superior performance this week-end.

SMU got another outstanding performance from John Riak (Fr., Lacey, WA) as he finished second in the 3,000 meters in a time of 8:35.36, the second fastest time in GNAC history.

The Saints’ Adam Paczkowski was sixth in the Shot Put (30-11 ¼), Caleb Timmer was ninth in the 800m, Robbie Wilbur was ninth in the 3000m, and Tristan Beach finished tenth in the 3000m.

On the ladies side, Ann McCanick was fourth in the 3000m, setting a school record with a mark of 10:43.62. Jessica Pendon was sixth in the 1000m, recording the number one time in GNAC history and setting a school record with a time of 3:08.88.

The Saints’ Chelsi Claussen was sixth in the 60m (8.18), Janelle Probst was sixth in the 3000m (11:01.85), and Jessie Dunnam was seventh in the 3000m.

Saint Martin’s next competes in the UW Indoor Open No.2 meet on Sunday, January 29.
