Carlson garners All-American honors placing eighth at nationals; on ballot for Academic All-America team

June 2, 2005

Saints standout distance runner, Nate Carlson, ended a brilliant running career at Saint Martin's with an eighth place finish in the 1500 meters at the NCAA Division II National Championship Meet in Abilene, Texas last week.

Carlson's time of 3:50.18 was the fastest 1500 meters in GNAC history.  His place in the top-eight in the nation automatically qualified him for the 2005 All-America Team.

Adding to his litany of accomplishments as a cross country and track star at Saint Martin's, the Biology graduate who is enrolled in the Masters of Education program, was named to the All-District VIII Academic Team by the Collegiate Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).  That honor automatically places his name on the ballot for the ESPN the Magazine, Academic All-America Team which will be announced later this month.
