Blume tops GNAC track scholars as Saints land 10 on academic team

May 16, 2005

Saints distance runner Katelynn Blume, along with Lindy Mullen of Central Washington, lead the GNAC Academic All-Conference team with perfect 4.0 grade point averages.  Blume, a sophomore Chemistry major, tops the list of 10 Saints honored on the squad.

Nate Carlson (Sr., Biology, 3.88), recent recipient of the prestigious NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship, is an unusual three-time repeater on the team. Carlson was eligible for four seasons as he split a season of indoor and outdoor last year.  Andy Prentice (Sr., Business, 3.45) is a two-time repeater and Nicole Beatty (Jr., Special Education, 3.62) repeated as well.

Also gracing the list for the Saints are Caleb Timmer (So., Civil Engineering, 3.90), Danika Washington (So., Civil Engineering, 3.87), Robbie Wilbur (So., Mathematics, 3.65), Josh Timmer (So., Mechanical Engineering, 3.56), Jacque Buchanan (Sr., Business, 3.51) and Seth Woods (So, Biology, 3.30).

To be eligible for the academic team, student-athletes must have a minimum grade point average of 3.20 and be in at least their second year of competition at their institution.  They must also have to qualify to compete in either the GNAC Indoor or GNAC Outdoor track-and-field championship meet.
