May 02, 2005

Saint Martin's will send 14 athletes, seven men and seven women, to the GNAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday in Ellensburg as the Saints wrapped-up the regular season competing at the Western Washington University Twilight Meet on Friday in Bellingham.

Nate Carlson and Andy Prentice will bring their provisional national qualifying marks in the 800 meters while Chelsi Claussen will enter Ellensburg with the fastest conference time in the women's 400 hurdles as the Saints enter the postseason.  Carlson and Prentice have recorded times of 3:51.69 and 3:53.23 respectively while Claussen's mark of 1:03.74 exceeds the conference's second-best time by over two seconds.

In addition to Claussen's placings, the Saints top-three finishers at Bellingham included Prentice (2nd 800m, 1:53.11), Men's 4x400 relay (2nd, 3:33.81), Kaleigh Bishop (3rd 800m, 2:23.51), Lakita Burr (3rd long jump, 4.81m), and Brent Christensen (300m steeplechase)
