Softball: Saints split with Wildcats
April 7, 2007
Ellensburg, WA – Pitching was the key as Saint
Martin’s split a two game series with Central Washington University
Saturday. Tana Lingl allowed just six hits and one earned run as the
Saints defeated the Wildcats 3-2 in game one, but Linse Vlahovich tossed
a four hit shutout as the Wildcats took game two.
SMU picked up three runs in the third to take the
two run lead. Kirstin Davidson singled to score the first run of the
inning then the Saints got the second run on an error by Central. Danni
Ballard doubled to score Ryanne Horton for the final run.
Sara Badgley came in to pitch for Central in the
fourth and silenced the Saint bats allowing just one hit the rest of the
way. But CWU couldn’t put anything together against Lingl, only able to
add one more run in the fourth on an error.
Vlahovich walked just one and struck out three hold
the Saints scoreless in game two. SMU only managed four hits in the game
including three by Kristi Sigafoos and one by Alicia Fuchs.
The Wildcats had 12 hits and were able to score in
five of the six innings. Kasey Druffel led the charge with three hits
while Logan Mohr, Mallory Holtman, and Kelli Spaulding each had two.
The Saints will face Seattle University on
Wednesday, March 12 in Seattle. The game was originally scheduled to be
played at home but was moved due to a rainout earlier this season.
