Softball: Saints drop two to Pacific Lutheran

Tacoma, WA (February 25) – Saint Martin’s suffered a
pair of 5-2 losses to Pacific Lutheran Sunday at the PLU field.
Game one saw the Saints take the early lead putting
two on the board on a single by Kirstin Davidson in the first. PLU got
one run back in the bottom of the inning and went ahead with three more
in the second. Hadley Schmitt held the Saints scoreless through the
final six innings allowing just seven hits in the game.
Davidson, Danni Ballard and Lisa Holombo each had
two hits in the game.
Ryanne Horton started for the Saints giving up three
earned runs in three innings. Tana Lingl threw the final three innings.
The Lutes scored first in the second game putting up
two runs in the bottom of the first. They added one run in the third,
fourth and fifth. The Saints were unable to get on the board until the
seventh when they posted a two spot but it wasn’t enough.
The Saints managed just four hits in the game, one
each by Holombo, Holly Morris, Sonya Ramos, and Kristi Sigafoos.
Lingl threw only one inning to start the second game
and was relieved by Holombo.
The Saints head to Richland this week to take part
in the CWU Invite.
