Softball: Saints split doubleheader with Central Washington

Ellensburg, WA --- The Saint Martin's University
women’s softball team split a Great Northwest Athletic Conference
doubleheader with Central Washington University on Friday. The Saints
won the opener 4-3 before CWU earned a split with a 12-4 victory in the
nightcap.
In the opener, the Saints (6-28, 2-11 GNAC) snapped
a 3-3 tie in the eighth on back-to-back doubles by Krishanna Nass (Sr.,
Scappoose, OR) and Lisa Holombo (Fr., Bonney Lake, WA). CWU (18-19, 8-8
GNAC) had forced extra innings scoring two in the bottom of the seventh
on a bases-loaded walk and a bases-loaded hit by pitch.
Nass had three of the Saints' six hits and scored
two of their four runs.
Carleen Lessard (Jr., Longview, WA) allowed just
five hits in seven innings to record the win for the Saints, while Tana
Lingl (Jr., Auburn, WA) earned a save with a hitless eighth.
In the nightcap, SMU jumped ahead 3-0 until the
Wildcats tied the game with a three-run homer in the second. CWU then
took a 5-4 lead with a two-run homer in the third and later put the game
away with a six-run fourth.
