March 31, 2006 Turlock, CA --- Saint Martin's opened the Togo's Tournament of Champions softball tournament in Turlock, Calif., with a 12-3 loss to Grand Canyon on Friday. The Saints spotted Grand Canyon (21-21) five runs in the top of the first inning then answered with three of their own before sputtering. The Antelopes scored four in the fifth to win the game on the eight-run rule. The Saints tallied six hits at the plate and left seven on base, while Grand Canyon recorded 12 hits and left five on. Krishanna Nass (Sr., Scappoose. OR) went a perfect 3-for-3, Halley Cey (So., Spokane, WA) went 1-for-2 and Katee Nauert (Fr., Spokane, WA) went 2-for-3, including a two-run double in the first for the Saints (3-21). Saint Martin's other two games slated for Friday were rained out.
