March 29, 2006 Lacey, WA --- The Saint Martin's University softball team will compete in the Tournament of Champions at Pedretti Park from March 31 to April 2. The tournament is the largest NCAA Division II softball tournament on the West Coast. The field features teams from Arizona, California, Hawaii, Oregon and Washington in a cross-pool play format. The teams are broken up into four five-team pools and each team will play one game against each team in their respective opponent pool, eventually seeding the teams into three championship brackets—Bronze, Silver and Gold. The event includes four top-25 teams including No. 3 Humboldt State, No. 7 Cal State Bakersfield, No. 8 Cal State Dominguez Hills, No. 17 San Francisco State and other strong teams from the California Collegiate Athletic Association, the Great Northwest Athletic Conference and the Pacific West Conference. The majority of the 66 scheduled games will be played at Pedretti Park with a handful of games played at Warrior Field on the Cal State Stanislaus campus. The Saints open play against Grand Canyon at
