Men’s Soccer: Redhawks defeat Saints

Seattle, WA – The 13th ranked Seattle University
Redhawks used two late goals to beat Saint Martin’s 3-1 in a Great
Northwest Athletic Conference game Monday at Championship Field.
The game was scoreless until the 35th minute when
Jason Cascio sent a pass to Eric Forner who found who found John
Fishbaugher. Fishbaugher was able to beat the SMU defender and get the
ball into the net and put the Redhawks up by one.
The score would remain 1-0 until the 68th minute
when Forner picked up another goal for SU on a free kick from Dustin
Allbery.
Saint Martin’s cut the Redhawk lead to one with just
over seven minutes left in the game. Chase Franklin was able to pull the
goalie out of the net and sent a cross to Vlad Voin who picked up his
first goal of the year.
Seattle University answered back just four minutes
later. Ian Walsh scored the insurance goal on a cross from Andrew
Kreiter.
Zac Lubin posted nine saves for the Saints. The
Redhawks dominated offensively sending 27 shots at the SMU goal while
the Saints were only able to get off three in the game. SU also had a
nine to one advantage on corner kicks.
The Saints will play at home this Thursday against
Montana State Billings at 3 p.m. at the Regional Athletic Complex.
