Men’s Golf: Swanson named new men’s golf coach
September 20, 2007
Lacey, WA – Saint Martin’s University has announced
the hiring of Kris Swanson as the new head men’s golf coach. Swanson, a
former athlete for the Saints, replaces Mark Jensen.
“I am excited to have Kris accept the position as
the new men’s golf coach. Kris brings his previous experience and
knowledge as a former student athlete of what it will take to be
successful at the DII level,” said Athletic Director Bob Grisham.
A local product, Swanson graduated from Capital High
School in 2000 and from Saints Martin’s in 2005. He is currently working
as an assistant golf pro at the Tumwater Valley Municipal Golf Course.
“I’m excited to work at my alma mater and with the
golf team that I played for,” said Swanson. “I look forward to starting
a new chapter in SMU golf. I’d like to get it back to where it was a few
years ago, back to a strong team that has a chance to win.”
Swanson will get right to work as the Saints host
their home invitational starting Friday, September 21st.
