October 25, 2006
Santa Rosa, CA (October 24) – The Saint Martin’s
men’s golf team shot a 303 on Tuesday, their lowest round of the
tournament, to finish ninth in the Sonoma State University Golf
Invitational at the Santa Rosa Golf and Country Club.
Cal State Stanislaus shot a 298 on Tuesday to hold
on to their day one lead and take the tournament win. They edged out
host school Sonoma State by four strokes shooting a two-day total of
869. Eric Justesen of CSU-Stanislaus took first with a 207 for the
tournament.
Despite what seemed to be ideal conditions, almost
every team shot higher on Tuesday then they had on Monday. All nine
teams were within nine shots of each other on the second day.
Peter Perkins was the highest finisher for the
Saints ending the tournament tied for 9th with a two-day total of 220.
John Eisentrout and Hiro Nezu both finished tied for 34th after shooting
a 228. Justin Lanman placed 39th and Olof Rosborg came in 41st with a
229 and 231 respectively.
The Saints are off for the remainder of the fall and
will resume play again this spring.
