Men’s Golf: Saints finish fifth at home invitational

Tumwater, WA – Saint Martin’s opened their fall
schedule with a fifth place finish at the SMU Golf Invitational Saturday
at the Tumwater Valley Golf Club.
The 54-hole tournament kicked off Friday morning.
After playing 36 holes Friday, teams reconvened Saturday morning for the
final round. Though starting time was scheduled for 8 a.m., a fog delay
set the time back for over an hour.
The Saints finished with a team score of 909. SMU
carded a round of 297 after shooting 299 and 313 on Friday. Grand Canyon
University held onto their lead from day one and shot 296 in the final
round to take the win with total team score of 881.
Individually, the Saints were led by Peter Perkins
who shot a tournament low 68 Saturday to cement a spot in the top ten.
Perkins finished tied for sixth with a score of 219. Both Olof Rosborg
and Hiro Nezu scored a 231 to finish tied for 27th. Justin Lanman scored
a 233 to finish 31st while John Eisentrout shot a 234 to place 36th.
The Saints head to Bellingham to compete in the
Western Washington University Invitational September 24-26.
