Men’s Golf: Saints place third at Sonoma State Invitational, Westrum
finishes fourth in medalist play

Rohnert Park, CA --- With two players placing among
the top 10 in medalist play, the Saint Martin's University men's golf
team finished third among 11 teams at the second annual Sonoma State
University Invitational Tournament which ended Tuesday at the Foxtail
Country Club.
The Saints shot a final-round 301 for a 36-hole
total of 593. Successfully defending its title was No.2-ranked Cal State
Bakersfield, posting a 294 Tuesday to finish at even par 576. Western
Washington shot a final-round 294 (587) to finish third. Cal State
Stanislaus (294) and host Sonoma State (301) tied for fourth at 597.
Originally slated to be a 54-hole tournament, the
event was cut to 36 because of rainy conditions.
Saint Martin’s Chris Westrum carded an even par 72
in the first round and finished in a four-way tie for fourth at 145.
Shane Prante, who shot a final round 73, finished tied for ninth at 147.
The Saints' Peter Perkins finished tied for 15th at
150, Jordan Burns finished tied for 18th at 151, and Hiro Nezu finished
tied for 46th at 163.
Tying for medalist honors at 3-under 141 were Chris
Killmer (71) from Cal State Bakersfield and Vince Venard (70) from Cal
State Stanislaus.
Saint Martin's completes its regular season on Apr.
10-11 at the George Buzzini Invitational in Turlock, CA.
