Men’s Golf: Saints conclude fall portion of
season at Mauna Lani Intercollegiate

KOHALA COAST, Hawaii --- Saint Martin's top golfer,
Shane Prante (Sr., Olympia, WA) fired a final-round 1-under-par 71 to
finish tied for 10th place at the Mauna Lani Intercollegiate Men’s Golf
Tournament hosted by University of Hawaii-Hilo. The Saints finished in
eighth place in the team standings at the par-72 Mauna Lani Resort North
Course.
SMU overcame an opening round score of 310, with a
24 stroke turnaround from the first round to the third, tying with Cal
State University-Chico for the second best score of the third round at
286. The Saints shot a 54-hole total of 896.
No.6-rated Cal State University-Stanislaus won the
team title with an 861 total, six strokes better than runner-up Sonoma
State University (867). Host Hawaii-Hilo tied for 3rd place with
conference foe Western Washington University at 879, both teams leading
the way after the first round with scores of 285 respectively.
SMU’s Jordan Burns (So., Longview, WA) finished tied
for 23rd at 228. Chris Westrum (Sr., Kapa’au, HI) tied for 25th at 229,
Peter Perkins (Jr., Bremerton, WA) tied for 30th at 231 and Derek
Siesser (Jr., Maple Valley, WA) tied for 36th at 235.
Western Washington‘s Tim Feenstra took the
individual medal after posting a 6-under 210 (68-72-70).
The Saints are off for the remainder of the fall and
resume competition at the Family Motor’s Invitational at the Seven Oaks
Country Club in Bakersfield, CA on Feb. 26-28.
