Nationally ranked Saints and Prante finish fifth at Grand Canyon Invite

Saint Martin's, currently ranked 19th in the nation by GolfStat, took fifth at the Grand Canyon Thunderbird Invitational at Palm Valley Golf Club in Goodyear, Arizona on April 4-5.  Saints All-American and currently the top-ranked golfer in Division II (sixth overall) Shane Prante tied for fifth.

Prante led after carding a first-round 70, then followed with rounds of 77 and 72 to finish 219 at three over, six strokes behind medalist Chris Hudson of Point Nazarene University.  The field included 15 teams and 84 golfers.

Also scoring for the Saints: Kris Swanson (tied 15, 225), Jared Bouchey (tied 20, 226), Jordan Burns (tied 49, 235), and Chris Westrum (64, 243).

The Saints are currently competing in the George Buzzini tournament hosted by California State University Stanislaus at the Tulock Club.  The tournament ends tomorrow as the Saints make their bid to compete at the Regional Championships in early May.
