Saints outduel PLU after taking 11th at Family Motors Invite March 9, 2005 Saint Martin's beat Pacific Lutheran 284-310 in a dual-match Monday at the Tacoma Country Club after placing 11th at the Family Motors Invitational at the Seven Oaks Country Club in Bakersfield earlier this month. Shane Prante fired a 66 and Chris Westrum carded a 68 to lead the Saints over the Lutes. Derek Siesser, Jared Bouchey and Elijah Perkins all shot 75 on the par 72 course to round out the Saints scorers. Prante led the Saints effort in Bakersfield as well with rounds of 76, 73, and 70 on the par 72 course. Kris Swanson's 68 in the final round was the highlight for the Saints. Three round totals for SMC included Prante's 216 (T 27, +3), Swanson's 221 (T 38, +5), Jordan Burns' 221 (T 27, +5), Siesser's 223 (T 47, +7), and Westrum's 233 (68, +17). The Saints, currently ranked 23rd in Division II, will next see action at the Otter Invitational in Monterey California on March 20-22. Shane Prante, with a adjusted scoring average of 70.44, continues to be the highest ranked golfer in Division II and is now the ninth among all collegiate golfers on the Golfstat Cup list.
