Prante wins again as Saints take second at Wells Fargo Invite October 18, 2004 Saints All-American Shane Prante won his second major invitational of the year in leading Saint Martin's to a second place finish at the Chico State Wells Fargo Invitational, held last week at the Butte Creek Country Club. The Saints finished at three strokes over par, one behind winner California State-Bakersfield, in the 54-hole tournament that included the top six ranked Division II teams in the nation. Despite the impressive victory, Saint Martin's slipped one position to fifth in the Golfstat national rankings. Prante led throughout the tournament, taking a five-shot lead in to the final round in which he shot 10-under to the finish nine strokes better than his nearest competitor. The victory dropped his average to 68.88 and places him as the top golfer in Division II and third among all collegiate golfers nationwide. Jared Bouchey also had an impressive tournament for the Saints as he shot an even par at 216 to tie for third overall. Kris Swanson (20th, 222), Chris Westrum (T31st, 226), and Jordan Burns (T42nd, 229) also scored for the Saints. The Saints get another shot at CSU-Bakersfield, as they travel to the Elco Invitational, hosted by the Roadrunners, on October 24-26.
