Saints outclass PLU; Prante misses medal by one stroke at Coyote Classic in California March 26, 2004 Saint Martin's cruised to victory in a dual match with Pacific Lutheran last week before battling an elite field of teams and finishing 12th of 15 at the Coyote Invitational hosted by Cal-State San Bernardino. The Saints eclipsed the Lutes by 19 strokes in the one-round event where Shane Prante lead all golfers with a five-under-par 67. Kris Swanson (72), Jared Bouchey (75), and Chris Westrum (76) scored for the Saints as well. Coach Kageler commented, "This is the type of performance we are capable of... Tacoma Country Club is not an easy course to score on and to shoot 2 over par as a team." The California tournament proved more difficult, however. After three rounds in which Prante carded 69, 72, and 71, the Saints star was still one stroke short of Justin Stover (Grand Canyon University) to settle for second best out of 75 golfers while the team lost an opportunity to climb back into the national ranking they held after the fall segment.
