Saints finish fall segment with top-ten national ranking November 19, 2003 Back in August, Golfstat, the official statisticians for NCAA golf, had Saint Martin's ranked 57th nationally in Division II. Now that the last putt has been dropped in the Fall segment of their season, the Saints have proven that they were seriously underrated. The Saints averaged three subpar strokes per round and had an adjusted scoring average of 73.31. Those numbers have earned Saint Martin's a national ranking of 10th in NCAA Division II. The Saints finished strong with a win over Concordia University logging a team score of 271, a new school record. A seventh place finish at the Elco Invitational, hosted by No. 2 Cal-State Bakersfield, was earned among a particularly strong field that included national leaders Cal-State Chico and six other top-ten teams. Coach Kurt Kageler commented, "I am pleased with our fall season and we have laid a strong foundation for the upcoming spring season." Shane Prante has been a standout on the links for Saint Martin's. The sophomore transfer is ranked sixth in the nation with an average of 4.4 subpar strokes per round and ninth in the nation in par-4 scoring with an average of 4.02 strokes.
