May 6, 2008 Lacey, WA – Saint Martin’s senior Pat Capone was named as the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Pitcher-of-the-Week for his outstanding effort in the Saints’ final series against Western Oregon University this past weekend. Capone, in his final game for SMU, tossed a gem allowing just three hits in 11 innings in the Saints’ 3-2 12-inning win over the Wolves. He struck out six along the way. “Pat’s performance was one of the best outings I have ever seen from a college pitcher. He gave everything he had in his body to go 11 innings,” said head coach Joe Dominiak. “I have never let a pitcher go that long before, but with his desire and determination it was amazing. It was hard for me to take him out of the game, but I knew he was on empty. My hat goes off to him.”
