Saints gear-up for GNAC Meet and regionals with strong showing at Evergreen Open October 22, 2003 The men's cross country team, currently ranked 9th in the Pacific Region, placed 5th and the women placed 8th at the Evergreen Open in Olympia this past weekend. The men were again led by their usual dynamic-trio of Andy Prentice (Jr.), Nathan Carlson (Sr.), and Tris Obluck (Fr.). Prentice finished 12th in the 6,400 meter race with a time of 21:07, Carlson was 16th at 21:14, and Obluck was 18th at 21:20. Despite the success the men have earned, Coach Brad Hooper commented that it's his women's team that has made the greatest strides in improvement, "The ladies performed really well. Nicole Beatty had an outstanding race, as did Lakita Burr. Burr is improving at a spectacular rate every meet and the ladies have made a turn on which team has the highest rate of improvement 1-9." The Saints look to apply their steady improvement to the GNAC championships this Saturday in Monmouth, Oregon and the the NCAA Division II West Regionals on November 8th.
