March 28,
2008
Lacey, WA – On a stormy day that saw game time
changes and rain delays Saint Martin’s was able to get in seven and a
half innings of their game against the University of Hawaii Hilo, enough
to make it an official game, sticking them with the 13-8 loss Friday
afternoon at Saints Field.
The Vulcans did most of their damage in the third
inning as they scored six runs on five hits and two Saint errors.
Down 7-2 in the fourth Saint Martin’s picked up two
runs on an error by UHH and a sacrifice fly. The Vulcans put up two runs
in the top half of the sixth but the Saints plated two in their half of
the inning to pull within three.
Hilo tacked on four runs in the seventh to make it
13-6. Saint Martin’s got two runs across in the bottom of the seventh
before the game was called.
Shane Schoeneberg went 3 for 4 with four RBI for the
Saints. Craig Yuhas added two hits and drove in one.
Picking up the win for the Vulcans was Jesse Moon
while Nick Bolthouse took the loss for the Saints.
