March 8, 2008
Lacey, WA – Nick Bolthouse threw a complete game
shutout as Saint Martin’s took the final game of the four game series
against Northwest Nazarene 2-0 in Great Northwest Athletic Conference
action. SMU won the first game of the doubleheader 7-6 Saturday at
Saints Field.
Bolthouse allowed just three hits in the game while
striking out three and walking four.
Saint Martin’s got their first run in the bottom of
the second on a single down the left field line by Tom Barlow. With the
bases loaded in the third NNU was called for catcher’s interference to
force in Nate Baker from third and put the Saints up 2-0.
Shane Schoeneberg, Craig Yuhas and Luke Abbott
accounted for the Saints only other hits.
NNU jumped out to an early lead in game one plating
four in the top of the first. The Saints answered back with two of their
own in the bottom of the inning on a RBI single by Baker and a ground
out.
The two teams exchanged runs over the next six

third on a failed pickoff attempt and came in to score on a sacrifice
fly by Abbott. Barlow then singled and was driven in on a single to
right by Carlo Ramirez for the go ahead run.

top of the ninth, striking out two, to pick up the win. Speer struck out
four in his two innings of work.

bunt and a ground out then came in to score on a single up the middle by
Severo Rodriguez.
