College of Education
Closing the loop 2005
Desired Outcome:
Aligning course and
program goals with dispositions as well as knowledge and skills is
important. Definitions for Core dispositions can be established so that
a rubric can be refined, anchor targets developed and the format of a
pilot instrument can be tested.
Data Collection:
- Six spring courses that span a typical
program have been selected for a pilot study.
- The Professional Education Advisory
Board pilot tested the rubric designed to assess dispositions by
establishing case scenarios.
- The tested case scenarios will be used
for training faculty and staff to improve inter-rater reliability.
- Faculty will evaluate each candidates
in the six courses
- Students will self-assess in the
curriculum and instruction and the internship seminar courses.
Interpretation of
the Data:
- Results will be analyzed qualitatively
and quantitatively for reliability and validity.
Changes to
implement:
The results will be used
to further refine the final rubric for use beginning fall semester 2005.
