How and when to apply as a transfer student
How to apply
Transfer applicants should complete the Common App Transfer
Undergraduate Application for Admission either
online or in
paper format.
Detailed instructions and access to the online application,
or a PDF copy to download, can be found on our
Application instructions page.
There are some special instructions transfer students should
to take note:
- You are not required to submit a letter of
recommendation, though it is recommended.
- You are required to submit official
transcripts for every college or university you
have attended. Saint Martin’s prefers to make
its own evaluation of each transcript in
granting of credit.
- If you will be transferring in 30 semester
credits or less (typically two semesters or
three quarters of full-time study) you are
required to submit your high school transcript
and SAT or ACT scores.
- Running Start students apply as first-year
students. Your running start work will be
evaluated for transferability and you’ll receive
full-credit for the college level work you’ve
completed under Saint Martin’s general transfer
of credit policies.
- For military personnel, submit military
documentation to receive credit (DD214, DD295,
AARTES transcripts, CCAF transcripts, DANTES
transcripts, DLI transcripts).
- Submit any College Level Examination Program
(CLEP) test scores.
When to apply
Saint Martin's University practices rolling admissions,
meaning we accept applications and make admission decisions
year-round. While this means you can apply up until the first
day of class in any semester we highly recommend you apply at
least 30 days in advance, especially if you need financial aid,
to insure sufficient time for processing both your application
for admission and your application for financial aid.
Transfer students can apply anytime during the year,
and most apply between February 1 and May 1.
Priority application deadline for transfers
is March 1.
Applicants who complete their
application by this date receive first consideration for
admission, housing, scholarships, and other types of
financial aid. Those who apply later will be admitted on
a space available basis and should be aware that some
types of housing, Saint Martin’s scholarships, and state
and federal aid may be limited. Applicants should also
submit their Free
Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by this
deadline. Visit our scholarship
and financial aid
section for more information.
