How is financial aid calculated?
The amount of need-based financial aid you will
receive is calculated using a formula established by the
U.S. Department of Education.
Data is collected through the Free Application for Financial
Aid (FAFSA), including information about the size of your family
(including how many are in college), income, assets, and certain
types of expenses. This collected data determines your Expected
Family Contribution (EFC). The amount of aid you qualify for is
based on the difference between cost of attendance and EFC:
(costs to attend) - (expected family
contribution) =
(demonstrated financial need)
