Use this application to apply as a first-year, transfer, or international undergraduate applicant for the Lacey campus.

Application requirements for:

Summer applicants working toward a degree should apply through the Common Application for fall 2012. Use the writing section of the Common Application to note that this is an application for the 2012 summer session. Summer applicants who are non-degree seeking need only to register by contacting the Office of the Registrar.

Common App

To simplify the application process for prospective first-year, transfer, and international undergraduate students at the Lacey campus, Saint Martin's University now uses the Common Application. Please read all of the information below before beginning your online application. Click here to begin your online application.


Application requirements for first-year students:

  • A Common Application
  • A 250-500 word essay on one of the following prompts (this will be attached to your Common Application)
  • Your official SAT/ACT scores
  • Your official and sealed high school transcript (provided by your counselor)
  • Your school report form (provided by your counselor)
  • A letter of recommendation from a teacher or counselor
  • There is no application fee for domestic first-year applicants

Application requirements for transfer students:

  • A Common Application
  • Personal essays, as instructed on the application
  • Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended
  • Official high school transcript, GED certificate or home school documentation, if applicable
  • Test scores from the College Board Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) or the American College Testing Program (ACT), if applicable
  • For those who have prior military credits: All scores from U.S. Armed Forces Institution Examinations (USAFI) and/or (DANTES) and/or College Examination Program (CLEP). Other documentation such as DD Form 214, DD Form 295, AARTS transcripts, CCAF transcripts, DLI transcripts and SMART transcripts.
  • There is no application fee for domestic first-year applicants

Application requirements for international undergraduate students:

  • A Common Application
  • An official translated transcript from each secondary school, college or university previously attended
  • Personal essay, as instructed on the Application
  • Scores from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). TOEFL scores are required if the student’s native language is not English. Students who do not have a TOEFL score or who score 525 or below on the paper-based TOEFL (or the equivalent) will be enrolled in the University’s English as a Second Language (ESL) program until they are able to meet this requirement.
  • Proof of health insurance coverage that is valid in the U.S. Those international students who lack valid U.S. health insurance coverage will be required to enroll in the University’s health plan.
  • An official statement of financial support attesting to the student’s ability to finance his or her education at Saint Martin’s. A letter of full guarantee or support submitted by any sponsoring agency will meet the requirement for proof of finances.
  • A non-refundable $45 administrative fee

Things to remember when applying online:

  • You will first be asked to register with a unique username and password. Please store this information in a safe place.
  • After you have created your account you will receive an email confirming your account registration. We recommend you read the instructions. After you've read the instructions, click on the link Search for Colleges and then either search for colleges from available options or type in Saint Martin's University.
  • If you cannot finish your application in one sitting, you can save your work and come back another time. When you are ready to work on your application again, go back to  www.commonapp.org and login with your username and password. Do not create a new account or start a new application.
  • If you forget your login or password, there are links to retrieve them or you can get a new one by going to Common Application support and clicking on Application Access on the left hand side of your screen.

Tips for completing the Common Application online:

  • Please check your browser settings: Javascript and cookies must be enabled and popup blockers must be disabled.
  • Save your work often.
  • Use a word processor to type your writing samples before cutting and pasting or uploading them into the online form.
  • Print a copy of your application and keep copies of all documents you send to us for reference.
